In today's society, breastfeeding challenges are very common. This is because many of us have not grown up around women breastfeeding, and therefore are not educated in the skill that it can sometimes take to accomplish such a natural thing! Many women are unsure of their body's ability to be the sole source or nourishment for baby's first 6 months of life. Many mothers are also unsure of whether their body will remain an exceptional source of nourishment for baby for up to 2 years and beyond, as recommended by Health Canada.
Early education and support have been shown to be extremely important in establishing a good breastfeeding relationship with new moms and babies. A postpartum doula, lactation educator, or someone educated in lactation management and breastfeeding can be a great resource to new moms who may have challenges and questions.
I can help with:
***Please note that should any breastfeeding challenge become complicated by a medical issue, I will need to refer you to a Health Care Provider, and I do not perscribe.
I offer breastfeeding classes before birth, as well as breastfeeding support after birth.

This class is a great refresher class for second time parents!
Classes may be scheduled privately or as a group. Contact Me! for more information. Or click on Rates and Scheduling for a calendar of upcoming events, or Classes for more information.
I provide in-home breastfeeding support, as I know that getting out with a newborn can be very challenging! Should you feel that you are needing a little more support after birth while still at the hospital, I can come and provide assistance during the early postpartum period. The first few hours after birth can be very important in getting breastfeeding off to a good start, therefore getting support during this time can make the difference between a rocky start to breastfeeding, or a wonderful, empowering experience.
Being in your home also helps me to better support you and your new baby, because then you are comfortable with your surroundings and I can give specific education and tips that meet the needs of your own situation.
Some mothers find that a weekly breastfeeding group can be beneficial. Getting out and meeting other new breastfeeding moms with similar challenges can be useful and reassuring. If you have a group of women that would like to start a weekly or bi-weekly breastfeeding group, please feel free to Contact Me. If you would like more information, click on Classes,or if you would like to join a breastfeeding group click on Rates and Scheduling.
